There was a place on the ROM website where it mention the option to give an "expression of interest", meaning "it won't hurt my feelings if I don't get a job in this ROM". The company makes no promises that it will abide by your expression of interest, you still need to put in for 4 positions, and if you get one that's not a pay cut type demotion, you have to accept or get no severance. Of course, if I was deciding between two similar applicants, one of whom wanted to stay and one who wanted to leave, I'd probably keep the one who wanted to keep working and give the other his severance.

Anonymous 121773, unfortunately the severance package only applies to involuntary loss of job. Therefore I doubt it will have any effect on people "volunteering" to go. What might change this is a voluntary severance package, which is mentioned here in this board by other posters, and it seems did not happen in other BU that have gone through the process already. It is consistent with the fact that the company seems to be n a very bad financial situation.

The severance packages are mentioned in the ROM Resource Center web page (linked in the Project Alpha Update email). There's a "After the ROM" tab on the homepage that will take you to where they mention severance packages.

Where did you see news of a severance package? It would seem each operating company subject to Project Alpha sent their own specific Project Alpha updates w/ in the hour of the overall email. It looks pretty grim & losing contractors means no one will be left to actually do most of the work.

They didn't specify what groups are contributing to those numbers. It's just a bulk number now.

And there will be severance, the usual 2 weeks per year, with a max of 52 weeks. Good news, because a lot of folks will raise their hands now, reducing the number of involuntary terminations
