Not surprising given the number of program managers that have exponentially increased over the past 3 years..what do they do really other than collecting status and sending emails...

We have project leads, we don't need PM's. They do nothing but take notes and show slides.

I dont see any posts about how good and needed PM's are ....how the engineers need to baby sit ..and for coordination....blah blah..... now they know they are the first on the chopping block in every group.... a few months ago there were some great supporters of PM....where are they now !!!
The shame is that when PMs first came into being it was a good thing. It offloaded some of the engineering team leads scheduling responsibilities. But then, empire building had to kick in and create this completely unnecessary monster organization. Instead of creating a synergy (sorry) with Engineering, it degraded into a pissing match.
Who needs PM?

This is going to cripple the directors who only get status from PM and don’t have much contact with the troop. There is no need for so many directors. What are they going to do?
