Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I realised today that JANA was the best thing that happened to Qualcomm. There is hope now that life will be a 15% better for 85% of us fulltime

Definitely more like 35% in us and eruope, aligned with the increased shift to lower cost regions, aka out sourcing Jobs.

As for the complaint below on shit attititude, if anyone left hanging for 4 months has a good attitude, he is either faking it for the review or he a top level manager doing the cut..

You must be new if you think this stops at 15%.

Anonymous122654 - but the choice is yours. if you feel that's how you are going to end up if you are one of the "lucky 85%" then have an exit strategy now. polish up that resume and start looking for other jobs. Nobody is chaining you to your workbench. If you feel the company is not going to be worth the effort any more, leave. find another job somewhere else, maybe a startup with better prospects. Please do that now as it may save somebody else's job. would rather have the 85% that are staying want to stay then feel like they have to. we can't turn this around with shit attitudes.

...or if you turn out to be one of the "lucky 85%" who work at least 80 hrs. per week because you are in constant fear of losing your job, have a heart attack due to stress, then wind up taking out an extra mortgage because bronze health plan doesn't cover about 30% of your bypass surgery.

Will be a real bitch when you find out that you turned out to be one of the 15%... Blame the execs fine, but have some compassion for the still unknown outgoing coworkers pls. Sure there are some real fat to trim, but due to whatever in play( politics, favoritism, etc) more often than not, many who ends up gone turns out to be the muscles. Small world in this industry, there's really no true joy @ someone else's expense.

Do you feel it is really great to be the 85%? JANA has not achieved its goal to break up the company yet.

Why would anyone want to stay for such sh** benefits? WhyWait??? The longer you wait, the more you get pigeon holed into being a particular type of bit flipper and the more you fall behind in income relative to the rest of the industry...so you should plan to GTFO ASAP. Jana assumes that the vast majority are chained to their job. If people actually set themselves up financially to be able to take some risk, this would completely blow up in their face if a large number of people just left.

Life's going to suck for those who don't GTFO. Those are the people who get to watch the ship sink. For the others, better things lie ahead.
