Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Why are people not annoyed that layoff timing : transition period will end about a week before next batch of RSUs vest?

If they screw everyone then there will be a big lawsuit. It's almost like stealing

You think this is a coincidence? Lol.....Actually, if Qualcomm was "decent", if you do get terminated, they would let you burn through your accrued vacation first, and that would most likely bridge you over until the vest date...But qualcomm has a history of screwing people out of their RSU/options. Just ask anyone that was part of the CBS infrastructure team that got sold to Ericsson...Or ask any of the folks that were part of Gimbal that got sold recently to the private equity firm. A lot of us finally feel vindicated that every one of you now can see how ugly Qualcomm has previously just treated a fraction of us in isolation. Because for the longest time, the only difference between us and the rest of you, is you guys managed to dodge a bullet and got lucky. Well, the bullet is really big this time. I would recommend that if you feel like you are in danger of getting the axe, you burn you talk to your manager to see if you can schedule an extended vacation (like if you have 4+ weeks of vacation, go on vacation pay such that the vest date overlaps for the time you are out on vacation). That way, if you get laidoff, they'll put your layoff date after your vacation date.

How can you not accept a termination date?

Are they really doing this so blatantly. How about the Qualcomm Way?

It always depends how much vacation you saved! I'm headed for a GTFO package, and will only accept if my termination date is after November 21st. Now what to do about my visa though?
