Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

How safe it is for H1B( with GC in processing) to hang on till I-485 filing/approval?

I am expecting to get GC in 2 year.Currently I may be safe now but wondering how things possibly play down and its worth taking risk or bail out now and restart GC with new employer( I have a offer from consulting company, not very good $,but stable)..any comments, ideas? Please no racist comments.

as long as your I140 is approved, the priority date remains same and you are safe and you can switch employer. The new employer starts the process but the priority date remains same. As I did the same , happy to be out of Q, peace of mind

Make sure your sponsor is on an approved sponsor list for H1B hires. Also, you can't work as an independent contractor--only W-2 positions. If you lose your job but your spouse is also an H1 status worker, you should report and change your status to H2.
