So, I am a faculty and I didn't take the voluntary separation back in June. I am regretting the decision. Do you think they will offer to volunteer again in September or was this a one time event?

You bypass the special tax by changing your exemptions to exempt
Cut your losses, no standard severance pay should be the guiding decision on weather to stay or go. Unless you are one of the top management getting bonuses this year, its time to pull the trigger and leave. Get the most you can get, move on and dont look back. Everything is negotiable, so dont settle for scraps when they are dinning on caviar.
Speaking from experience, the severance pay will be less than half of what they actually owe you so plan accordingly. They will take most of it as a "special tax" that has nothing to do with the normal tax withholding. Then you may get hit with being thrown into the higher tax bracket and owe more taxes anyway- off of money that will never come into your possession. Just some things to think about. Still much better to get out of there though- especially if offered a severance. I can't imagine that will last much longer the shape EDMC is in now.
Taking the severence was a no brainer. I was shocked so many faculty passed it by.
As the letter stated which was given to us faculty who took the voluntary package, you can take this voluntary option. Or, you MAY be a part of an involuntary reduction in the future...

Whatever happens, you can bet Hardman will say it's part of EDMC's, effort to maintain "...close alignment between our resources and market demand."

Unfortunately, we humans can see the present, remember the past, but have no access to the future. Oh, well...
Re: Anonymous125759 . Morale is an all time low. I am just worried I will be let go anyway and will only get a few weeks of severance compared to the full amount they were offering.
More faculty layoffs seem likely for fall. The schools did not get enough volunteers the first time around.

@758, It's hard to say what changes have happened, I took the offer. I based my comment on some of the other I knew who took the offer and their expertise and teaching qualifications. I have heard some things but it's no my concern anymore.

I doubt that they plan to offer that deal again again any time soon. However whether you took it or not, you should leave.

They (EDMC/campuses) lost a lot of the top instructors with the last round of voluntary layoffs. The next round, EDMC may want to pick and choose who stays and who leaves.
