Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

They cannot even organize a town hall event!

ETC town hall was arranged at the Hyatt downtown in Houston today. They were going to announce how they are going to carry out a mass lay off.

Five minutes in the presentation, Paul Siegele, ETC president, stopped and asked the people standing (that was half of the room) to leave, since they represented a fire hazard. Darkly funny new twist on the term " left standing", which is how they call those that will not find a new position in Chevron after the reorg.

Great leadership. How did they get to run a research organization?

That was funny. I can't believe they didn't anticipate more people showing up. Wasn't Paul's fault. Planners. He was pretty pissed.

Sounded like an expat giving the message. A bit distasteful given their costs.

Always use the Doubletree! Take it from ITC, we've got experience in ROMS and know how to book a place with enough space so that everyone gets a fair chance of being audibly bent over and screwed. The good news is that with each successive ROM the numbers of people who give a shit while dwindle so that at some point you'll be able to just book a vidcom room with 4-person occupancy on each floor.

Oh and BTW, what part of the Chevron Way says you should threaten a business with loss of future revenue if they take a stand and refuse to violate the law?

The Hotel told them they were overbooked with heads for the occupancy permit and would be in violation of NFPA/Houston Life Safety Code. Chevron's answer. No we are not. Ah yes you are. They tried to use the "We will never use this facility again." after they were overbooked. Good for the Hotel to say fine don't use us!

Probably surprised that so many people showed up. I haven't gone to one in years because they never say anything. Went today thinking they had lots of substance to say. Heard more than usual, but still not as much as I had hoped. I wish I had been standing since I had work to do.

ETC management couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.

Wow, that is unacceptable. GREAT leader there! I hope his role is on the Alpha/ROM rotation list.

Just know that Chevron is one of the best companies in the world. May the odds be always in your favor.

What a perfect graphic. Those standing will be equal to the amount left standing in a month or so.

LOL... Those breaks will take on a new meaning in about two weeks, when people start to break into a fit.

Did he say whether or not we get to keep the fit breaks. This is really important to me!

Improper planning. No different from the improper planning that got us to this mess.
