That's what I heard from multiple sources. This review happening this week is purely managers judging their employees rating with no external feedback etc. they would give them a number rating and this would be rolled up across different groups and primarily used for layoff decisions. The managers are not given any targets to cut...I think that decision will happen at the VP level.
The regular fall review will start in September after the employees affected have been informed. From what I understand this will be a regular fall review with bonus, rsu(smaller) and promos.
I guess that depends on if you still have a job by then.
