Don't forget AMBU to add to the weight shedding Chevron has already done. While most companies have been transparent in their numbers of layoffs, I find it unlike the "Chevron Way" that they boast having been making cut backs for some time now. To only announce a measly 1500 employee cut. When you add up what they have been shedding over the course of the last year or so, one can only assume Chevron isn't as transparent as they claim to be?

The total is closer to 3,500 when you add GOMBU, LABU, SASBU, SJVBU, MCBU & the CBU cuts last month. News agencies don't seem to understand this. Guarentee you shareholders dont get this. Seems surprising, because stock price usually goes up when workforce reductions occur.

It's funny that these articles assume Chevron is the Mecca of efficiency and goo decision making. "If Chevron has to lay people off then everyone is going to have to as well." Newsflash guys- there has been some major empire building going on at Chevron for the past 5-10 years. 1,500 positions needed to be eliminated regardless of oil prices.

My friend told me the "efficiency experts" were visiting with the company. I guess they decided to make it official. Another boom and bust cycle facilitated by our Federal Reserve bank. No wonder the U.S. rate of homeownership continues to decline, now at a level not seen in 48 years...

On Tuesday, Chevron announced that it will cut about 1,500 positions over the course of 2015. The bulk of those job cuts will come from Houston, where 950 of the company's 8,000 Houston employees will be let go. About 50 international employees and 600 contractor positions will also be axed. Chevron is responding — as all of the oil companies are these days — to low global oil prices, according to Reuters.
