Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Arrogance and Whining

For years now if not decades, most if not all of the majors have acted like pompous asses. Big bonuses for everyone, stock options, big time off, benefits out the wazoo that most of America does not get. Now it is time to realize that you are just as expendable as the rest of America. Is it really a shocker that management and executives will hang you out to dry? They could give a crap about you from your supervisor on up to the CEO. They are only worried about their bonus and perks... suck it up!

There is also no where to go, so you might want to stop the whining, suck it up and go apply to Burger King so you can have it your way!

Later losers! Truth hurts doesn't it!

Now You Really Know, I think Mr. Now You Know is just calling it "Appalachia-Marcellus Business Unit" because Michigan is going bye-bye. OK, maybe he didn't really know.

If I am left standing and lose my job, can I come back to Chevron as a contractor? Or I am banished from Chevron for life?

AMBU - Applalacian Marcellus Business Unit. This BU was created after Chevron purchased Atlas in Pennsylvania just a couple of years ago. This was our big entry into shale gas, just before gas prices came crashing down. Look at them now... We are selling off acres of assets and closing shop.

Turn in line is used for all on land shale plays. I am in Wolf Camp and we just had a meeting for the TIL wells. What is AMBU? Isee it on here and not sure it's meaning.

The low overhead independents will still drill the shale plays. Not at a rapid rate but activity will be steady. These companies require you to wear multiple hats. Plan work and execute it with a few people. It is actually very liberating coming from a major. They pay much better and the work environment is excellent. In PA the Marcellus, In OH the Utica and in Texas the Permian and Delaware plays. Rig count is ok. I am not sure what office dwellers can do in this environment? There are no jobs for specialist unless you can also be a generalist.

Wow. Must feel nice to get that off your chest. Have you been dwelling on this for years or decades?

Nah....I went up to OH last month and am working for an independent. I had to settle for a $42,000 pay increase. Reality is very good. If you have skills they are drilling and fracing thousands of wells. Most in Chevron though, can not run a frac or or drill crew. Can not TIL a well. Independents pay for performance not checking the box on an OE score card.
