If you work in a large office building like in San Ramon or Houston and heard from others that random drug testing is taking place, just don’t answer your phone if you don’t recognize the incoming caller ID or phone number. This way you’ll be able to defer the testing for a day or two.

If you know the people in your testing group you can usually ask for a one day deferral on the testing. Comes in handy!

I’m not surprised. The place is called BangKok for good reason.

Must not apply to PSG 28 and above. There are some on the 14th floor of Smith Street that seem permanently stoned. They also seem to find reasons to make an inordinate amount of business trips to Bangkok.

@g6qfd, thank you for your reply! I will wait to get my new summer style til after my follicle test! Much appreciated.

And to you @g7pqa, certain people do not deserve a response. I'm going to start saying an extra prayer for you before bed at night.

@g6qfd, I far as I know, the policy of random drug testing for current employees is still the urine sample, unless you are tested positive. You will be subject to a hair follicle test if tested positive. For new hires, they always use the more advanced hair follicle test.

Just a question. Does anyone know if Chevron in Houston (the office building) does follicle sample or urine sample for their drug test?

@61zjj, don't worry, you didn't have to affirm that you don't work for Chevron or Exxon. We already concluded that as a fact, after reading your post.

@CKeaozW-aai1, I am tested quite frequently, for drugs and I work for Neither Chevron nor Exxon, it's just part of the business unless you are with a flea-bag operation. S--- it up or get out of O&G, and work in an industry where they don't care if their employees are on intoxicants all day when they are supposed to be alert and able to perform their duties. I don't know of many these days that do not drug test. I personally would not want a bunch of stoners of any kind on my team in any position at any company. And no. I don't think it's "they should trust you" Save it for someone who believes that. Drug use is too prominent these days.

I was tested positive for M&Ms. When asked why I used, I responded that it melted in my mouth, not in my hands. They didn't like that answer and send me to rehab. Three months later, now I'm hooked on Mentos.

I was working for a company and passed their drug test...4 months into the job I get a notice from my supervisor that exxon uses the Houston round table bunch down there to make you go to rehab ...my offense happed 10 yrs ago...they wanted 500.00 and that was to be sent to them..and I would have to pay for the rehab out of my pocket...that was a 1 time thing...and I am drug free and have been since...Anyone know if that still going on. I work construction... just need to find out before I travel to Houston and find out that still goes on....It is a money thing ...that's all it is...

LMAO...this ridiculous policy was not an insignificant factor in my decision to leave Chevron in 2013. amazing how the lemmings would happily run down there to drop their drawers and piss in a cup.

I test positive for amphetamines at every drug test. For those fortunate enough to be unfamiliar with this, amphetamines are predominantly the prescribed medication for ADHD. So each time I receive a call to be test I know within a few days someone will be calling me to tell me that I've failed the test. It's so routine that I pretty much cut them off tell them I'll send them my DL and Express Scripts contact and prescription #. I share this because I have not been tested for a number of years. If high levels, or repeated failures resulted in increased random testing then I would know by now. So basically chill out and focus on your job. If you're so stressed that you self-medicate then I recommend taking advantage of Chevron's incredibly generous mental health benefits.

They've been hammering on the drug testing for months. I noticed an uptick in the spring. From now on I am going to start providing a stool sample or semen and play dumb like I didn't know.

Beware. Houston, unlike many other CVX offices uses GC/MS offsite laboratory analytical methods (per SAMSHA). Many smaller offices just use a urine screen onsite (DOT procedure) like you get before embarking offshore. Even though you may have gotten an official "pass", CVX has access to past detected but below decision threshold concentrations. If you are in that bin, you may be profiled for increased "random" testing. Also, if above decision threshold concentrations of perscription drugs are detected, you will be required to provide proof of legal prescription. You will also be profiled as a potential drug abuser and person lacking disposition to handle stress of job. Inability to handle job stress is part of 2- PMP criteria.

If this is true it's a little strategic. Everyone is stressed. Some people who have had drug problems in the past may use due to stress. Bit of a self forefilling concernn
