Of course merger would be allowed.....just sell off entities where there is monopoly...simple as that....
Would never pass anti- trust. Exxon, Chevron, Mobil, Texaco, Gulf, Unocal, XTO, Imperial all under one corporation?
That's 5 of the Seven Sisters, leaving out BP and Shell.
With Shell having Just bought British Gas is not likely to be shopping again so soon.
Looks like we're on our own...
Exxon and Shell are just as F'ed as Chevron is.
Exxon + Chevron might as well go back to being called Standard Oil.
