Perceived Low Performers Get Let Go

I have been sitting here all weekend feeling absolutely terrible about the low performer evaluation I just went through for a CNAEP BU but I understood why I was doing what I was doing especially because we missed our earnings by 90% compared to last year.

Well, the reason I am feeling bad is because after I made my decisions, I was informed that I had to go back and put a double asterisk (**) next to each name that was a minority female and a single asterisk next to each name that was any other race of female, any other minority and any child of a manager (it had to be a manager and if there was a question, I could ask HR). I made a comment to my VP and received the response that I would think different if my child was working here. I am truly very disappointed. I expected better. I will be letting 2 people go in 2 weeks. I had to remove 1 minority female and one HES General Manager’s child from the list yesterday. I did not sleep any last night and I will not sleep any tonight.

Call the 1-800 number and report this abuse. I'm a stockholder and don't want to see crap like this swept under the rug.

Well my session was like this minus the asterisk. I will be surprised if I am here in a year. I have a young lady who's parents are both managers. She is in a technical position with a very soft degree and no experience. She is abusive to the other employees and of course can not perform the work. So her low ranking would mean she is gone. Nope, I was told to remove her from the list. When I refused I was told remove her name or we will remove you! Employee relations and the hotline are a sham now. Do not call and report or you will be retaliated against. I know what the policy says but reality is much different especially the last few years. I know I am marked for pushing back.

If there is any truth to this then you need to call the fraud hotline, or have an attorney directly contact the board of directors. It's a slap in the face to hardworking minorities at Chevron when management feels the need protection. I work in ITC and in the IT field we could give two shits what you look like, what your race is, or what your gender is. It's outcomes.

Reverse discrimination runs rampant at Chevron. Its like working in a govt bureacracy at times. The diversity ebracing has gone to far. None of that should have ANYTHING to do with performance based decisions.

I think you just might have given a bit too much information about yourself. I had to do something similar in my session but we only discussed the personnel that you highlighted and did not create a trail with an asterisk. Not sure which HES Manager you are talking about as:

  1. MCBU HES GM has their spouse (both senior positions) and child (Teflon) working for Chevron

  2. TCO HES GM has two children working for Chevron

  3. Corporate Audit HES GM has their spouse (both senior positions) and child (Teflon) working for Chevron

If you are in HES, not sure how you could not let females go as your top guy wes seems to have only been hiring females since he took the position. Charlies Angels Syndrome?
