Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Higher incompetent leaders to take mid managers jobs

As many of you can see the higher leadership positions have been sliced in half for most functions. These employees are now going to take mid level technical working team lead jobs. That is where this discussion is going anyways. I firmly push back that they need to have some sort of back ground in the field they will be pushed down to manage. The consensus of "They are managers and can manage anything" has not changed. This is what put us here in the first place. Many of these people will be in a more day to day role which of course will replace many SME's! Can you imagine the chaos when this happens and work needs to get done?

The Ugly Truth you sound smart and are using logic. That of course does not matter at all in these ROM's. Call up to Pittsburgh and Canada and ask to see their outcome. Totally broke. My boss just told me what the original post said. I will most likely get bumped by a manager and of course who has no experience what so ever in my role. I do have one of the few honest and open supervisors at Chevron. But he almost verbatim called out the original post.

Some of those manager or team lead positions that get cut, will most likely result in the manager or team leader being chosen for an open position that was once a "direct report" position in the previous org chart. But I don't think that's a slam-dunk conclusion in every case. It depends. I think some older managers and team leads would get cut if there are younger and talented employees who could fill the position. The reason I think this is because Chevron has never lowered anyone's pay when they took on a lower PSG position. Why would Chevron continue to pay most people a higher pay than what the job is rated for? Not in a ROM environment. Another reason is that giving a format manager or team lead or lower position would soon be demeaning to that person, for now he/she has a lower status in the company. Sure, one would conclude that managers and team leads are smarter employees, but truly the company knows who they really want. Some of the ass-kissers and buddy-buddies may come out unscathed, but my bet is most of them will hit the skids.

LOL ditto to the two replies. Of course that is what will happen! Get yourself a condom if you have a role and have performed well but there is a higher manager that has no position. You will get F&^% in the ass and layed off.

I hope no one is surprised by this post. What in your experience in Chevron would tell you anything different. The leaders that now have no position will of course apply for jobs below them and of course get them. This will just make everyone so confident of this process and in Chevron in general.

Blind leading the blind. It already happens in Tram Lead roles and Advisor roles. If you don't realize it then you are one of the blind ones.
