I had 5 years and asked to be left standing. Take a few months to relax and then get a job. The economy is humming outside of the oil patch. And believe it of not they are still drilling wells....there are jobs in the oil patch...hard to get but they are there.

Not everyone, I've been here 4 years and am asking for it. I'm not vested, get a drop of vacation time and I would rather work someplace else at this point. I don't see things getting any better at chevron for a long time and I don't want to keep having to worry about every dime I spend and more ROMS to get through.

Means early retirement. You get your severance (max 1 year). Most folks that will request to be "left standing" will be people who have been here 30+ years and have enough "points" for full retirement benefits.

I talked to one person the other day who's been here since 1973!!
