Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Bored with current role

I was wondering if there are other people out there who are bored with their current roles. I have been in the same role for 5 years now and I was actively looking around within Qualcomm. I almost interviewed for another team within QCT a few months ago before sh** hit the fan. Assuming I survive the cuts, will they allow you to change teams\roles assuming the other position is still available?

If you survive, be glad if there is still a company in a year!!!

It will not be a good time to move. If you are for 5 years, that means, you proved your strengths in current position. If you move to a new group and if next-wave of layoffs happen, such newbies will be first to go. So play safe until things settle. Build up skills needed for your ideal role but donot move.

You have to be fvcking kidding me? I think a lot of you have not realized the seriousness of what is going on at the Q. In a few weeks/month, many of you will be lucky to have a job. Most of you guys aren't in a position (if you want to remain at the Q) to be picky and choosy on what you would like to do, career advancement, etc. What part of "cost cutting" do you not understand? If you want to further your career and feel you are pigeon holed, you would best be served by NOT staying. Yeah, the Q might pay you slightly more, but if you're stagnant in your skills and do eventually get laidoff, you'll be even more fvked at that point with totally outdated skills. Man, reality hasn't hit home yet for a lot of people yet.
