Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Two weeks notice???

I have received a job offer outside of Chevron. I am an hourly employee that isn't willing to sit around and wait to get canned. Should I give my two weeks notice? My concern is that my supervisor is vindictive as all get out and if I give my notice he will fire me out spite. What to do?

If your Supervisor is vindictive, then he/she should have never been placed in that position. As a supervisor, I would recommend that you give your two week notice and before you start a new job take a week off and relax. Don't worry about your supervisor, concentrate on your new job. Good luck.

Go out with integrity as Anonymous130583 suggest. Give the two weeks notice. As an hourly employee, you probably won't be released before the two weeks are up but they'll pay you if they do. You can't get fired, you are quitting. Just don't make this decision based on the negativity of thiese disgruntled employees who think CVX is at fault here.

Last time I quit a job, they made me stay home for 30 days with pay. Concerned about condifendiality. Refused to just let me walk out - out of vindictiveness. Oh spank me harder Please! It was a great (paid) vacation.

Give your two-week notice. It is the right thing to do. Your vindictive supervisor will be shocked.

Looks like they are picking the right ones to get rid of.

I would give the customary two week notice, and I'd probably come down with the blue flu for at least half of it. If you've already got the offer, they would likely expect you to give two weeks notice, might as well use the sick leave you WON'T get paid for. I hope my next company has PTO versus this separate sick and vacation time. For people in years 1-5, it sucks having a mere two weeks a year for FIVE years.

I don't think about the company or your supervisor just think about yourself. I expect that means you will maintain your own personal integrity and professionalism. Give the two weeks notice and make sure your HR rep is CC on the email

if he is that vindictive, you will eventually get laid off anyway. Therefore, you have nothing to loose. You should take the offer. You don't want to stay at Chevron until December and get laid off just before Christmas.

Congrats my friend. Take all of your vacation and sick time then quit. I would say never burn a bridge but it seems to be already burned. Do not give the jackhole the satisfaction of f***ing you off. A coworker was being jerked around in 2011. He went to work for a company the day he walked out. He took his 3 weeks of vacation in case his other job sucked. It was a great new place so he never came back and never gave notice. Chevron kept paying him. After 6 weeks and 3 paychecks he got nervous and called in to say he was resigning! He got another check lol.
