Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron is such a TOXIC place and always been

This ROM brings the best out of our management. Incompetent management has been allowed to stay for so long that is not even in the ROM play to fire them or else. Management gets moved, not fired. Same incompetent management is making all the deals for the upcoming ROM. Go figure. What a bed for incest. Today I had a conversation with my new manager (6 months) and she just told me that I am not doing well enough. I was like, whaaattttt bitch? Just last week I had my mid-year PMP and it was STELAR. I am glad I recorded it in my WebEx session which is legal by CVX rules :-) She is that STUPID. For the past 5 years I had 3 cluster 1 and two 2+ plus a promotion . I got that through HARD work. Go figure how bi-polar and incopetent she is. Sometime I wonder if they have degrees and learned anything in school. Probably trying to bring in one of her cronies to replace me, no surprise there. I AM OK :-) I can survive out of Chevron anytime. I have the skills and network that enables me to do so and sleep well at night. Is just so PATHETIC to see this such TOXIC environment and behaviors. Really DISGUSTING. I am glad this ROM is happening. This forum perfectly brings to the surface the major issues Chevron is dealing with, fat, happy, incompetent, unable to execute. Not all of them but the majority. At the end of the day look at the execution and results.

Chevron is all about diversity and emphasizing the promoting of women is only part of their problem. It's true that diversity "can be a good thing" but when it is used as a vehicle to promote instead of actual qualifications then you end up exactly where Chevron is now...a mess. A famous quote from Colin Powell says it all " True Leadership must be earned , not appointed ".

The original poster is spot on. He or she knows all the corporate buzz words and the PMP rank and yank dance. He has identified the core problem of nepotism and the protection the leaders have to ensure the team remains in place.

Anon130899, the truth is, if you get an exit interview and ask Chevron Management the question; " How's it working for you?", the answer you get will likely be "Well, we still have job and you don't". See, they really don't care about you (or any of us for that matter). It's survival of the fittest. They hold the cards and they will do everything to survive. The company will only become a better one if cleaning house was done from the top down.

Incompetency is the Chevron Way. Let me break it down. For the last ten years when you logged onto the Chevron web there was a statement in bold blue letters that said " We Promote Women ". A slogan taken right out of the Affirmative Action play book. Chevron Headquarters is located in California , one of the most Politically Correct Liberal States in the US. The Management is a direct reflection of the California mind set. After 30 years in the Industry my Team Leader was selected out of a group of people that I knew and worked with for years. This woman did not have any more leadership experience than the rest of us and was actually a poor performer. She was the Chevron token chosen to lead our team. First time I had an issue and went in to vent and state my position to her she breaks down and cries. Wow. It never got any better and it is 10 years later and she is now a manager. If I get an exit interview all I want to do is ask Chevron Management this one question " How's it working for you ?

The original poster is a bullshitter. With that sort of talk, bad spelling and grammar, there's no way you are the type of person to have received three straight 1 ratings, followed by two 2+ PMP ratings. I don't believe you.

Shoot Albert Einstein could not spell. This place is toxic but it was not like this 10 years ago. Chevron had very experienced and good managers. Team was important and work got done. from the early 80's until 10 years ago very little hiring took place. The n leaders retired and were replace by your Lady Boss. Older competent Chevron employees will tell you this. Now many of the older Chevron employees are the most incompetent you can find. Unlike other companies when poor performance and bad behaviors got you fired Chevron would move them and of course move the problem. To me that is key to the issues we are having today.
