Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I think somebody is finally listening?

I checked on ph and I saw that my line manager has changed rightfully to my direct lead. Yippy...

no more of that lame duck name sake "manager". Next.. Does my new lead/manager get to review my performance directly? Or does he still have to go to the $hitty review board and present my case to the deadwood directors. HR/manager folks please fix this as well? Let the leads own this review process end to end as well...

You're suppose to listen to our lead and your manager. It's entitled employees like you who make this company shitty.

Fall in line and know your place. There is a reason why you're not higher titled, You probably don't deserve it. Stop being a spaz

This change is just a smoke screen to make the masses quiet down for a while. Nothing will change in the end. You performance score will be just the same, or more likely, lower after the next review, if you are one of the unlucky ones to get there.

Actually I have been actively requesting HR to

change my manager for a while ~ 6 months.... They finally did this.. Albeit not as my request but part of this realingment... Oh well as long as I don't have the previous lame duck.. Every time he quack'ed it just made my skin crawl....

You know what sux? That you were not informed or consulted. You are just a number that can be moved with a drag & drop in Ph.

Think of all the cases where your manager has no clue of what you are doing and he is the one pitching your case in the review meetings. Unfortunately that is far too common. I know of many managers who talk to their reports twice a year. Some times don't even give their reports a written review or send the review by email.

HR has done nothing to fix this.

Its a start man... There is no perfect review process... But the review board with freaks is the worst... If it comes to situation where there are hard core disagreements with the lead well... Time to change group or worst case company.. But I consider myself open minded and willing to give people benefit of the doubt.. And my current lead is quiet reasonable and always willing to listen (and not the kind that these freaky directors on the review board)... Or at least have been so far. Please lets keep the racist comments out ...

you seem to be very happy with the technical lead being your manager.....think of a situation when you are not in agreement with your techinical lead.....then things go for a toss..... i had a disagreement with my manager who was my techinical lead ...there is nothing one can do... the problem is not who the manager is.... the problem is the review needs to be done by sets of people who can impartially judge between two people's work..... and there the whole thing is a mess...... because the directors and review board dont understand that.....and play favorites.....

and it is a very simple thing : attach a $ amount to every bodies work..... by the impact it has on the project..... and not that worked day and night, came on weekends etc etc.....
