Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Will QCT make retention offer now?

Received job offer at a competitor. Ready to move family from San Diego to Bay Area. Salary justifies move to new location. I don't think I will be laid off by Qualcomm.Do you think exec level would authorize salary match? What about if I asked for more RSU? $250k in RSU? $500k in RSU?

Just make the jump. Don't risk salting the earth. You may want to come back some day, and if you turn it down, it will leave a bad taste. If you take it, you may just get kicked to the curb further down the road. Besides, travel is educational. Even if it's only to "No-Cal." 132057 has most diplomatic approach I've seen so far.

OP: Take your other offer. Gawd no, don't ask for a retention package. If anything, tell your manager "I'm thinking of leaving. Would this help your staffing numbers? Is there a separation package you can offer if I were to leave soon?" But for goodness sake, don't say that you are already gone or ask for a retention package. Retain your self respect!

At least you got to bang reps in CorpIT. Some nerds at QC can't get that for $1 million.

Why not ask for counter offer? M and S did and got it? Blackmail is standard operating procedure at Q.

Just leave and be done with it. Why would you spend all your energy trying to get a match when you've decided to move.

HAHAHA. You leaving is doing them a favor. Sorry, why do you people still think you are special? Listen, EVERYONE is replaceable. When I told my VP and Senior Dir I was leaving (even though I really like them and they are the few VP and Senior Dir that in the company that I respect), they told me that as much as we want to make a counter to keep me (1) they can't and (2) on a personal note, they'd do the same thing if they were in my shoes. So I they told me that weren't going to give me a counter, because on a personal note, they wanted me to go to the opportunity that was best for me in the long term. They asked where I was going (which you shouldn't tell, unless you know and like your VP and dir) , and jokingly asked me if I thought they would be interested in hiring them.

First, they will match your salary. Then, when the other job is filled, they will lay you off. Then, they will at you.

There's certainly no downside in giving it a try before you leave.
