There are still some managers with the intelligence of pond life. I had one drag me into his office (several years ago) on Friday afternoon to tell me he was giving my job to a contractor - I'm on staff. The manager had recently been mobilized to my project and it was the first conversation I'd had with him.

BCG advised that layoffs should preferably occur on tuesdays or Wednesdays.

“This allows the employee an opportunity to reengage immediately with potential opportunities. Friday is the worst day. I have to go home, face my spouse and family and then wait until Monday to reengage.”

Our HR rep will be in a meeting with management this afternoon. Beyond that, we'll see what happens.

Check the calendars for most of your HR Business Partners. Many have Wednesday unavailable or booked with "private" meetings. D Day is on Wednesday.
