Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Info for RAE tomorrow?

Does anyone have any idea of how things are going down tomorrow? My BU might be the only one where we have yet to receive any direct communication or updates. All we were told is that we would know within two weeks which is today. I assumed we would know something by now so are we to show up tomorrow as if everything is normal and maybe we stay, maybe we go?

OP, you will get a meeting notice in the morning. If you were deemed proficient, the meeting is between you and your supervisor and you are told to get back to work. If you were deemed not proficient, the meeting is between HR, you, and your supervisor and you are thanked for your service and told you no longer work here. You will get a packet of HR severance information and you can go home. If you need a ride, they will call you a taxi. You remain on payroll but not working for 60 days and then you get severance.

No, dear high-and-mighty Anonymous134262 , you are wrong. The CNAEP RAE may target the low performers, but not only them. There are lots of serious, hard working folks with good PMPs , no 2- or 3, good reviews and good feedback, but unfortunately a supervisor who wants to get rid of them.

Chevron does not discriminate. If you are part of the RAE, then you understand you are a low performer. Unfortunately the current environment forces Chevron to cut back, and rhis is the first time for Chevron to target the low performers. Other major oil companies lay off low performers every 1 or 2 years....your lucky you made it this far.

I know from the folks this spring that HR missed every deadline. Their two weeks turned into 3.5 weeks. CVX wants to keep everyone optimistic. My advice, act like you are leaving. It is easier on you to think this way.

I'm wondering if you get the severance in addition to them keeping you on payroll for six weeks?

On my Retirement tab in the Benefits site, there is a Severance option under the drop down. Mine said 2 weeks for ever year and put up some calculations. Check your Benefits website.

Does anyone have specifics in writing of what the severance is? I was told I would stay on payroll for 6 weeks but they didn't know about any additional severance. The minimum for Alpha is 8 weeks but this might be treated differently.

SJVBU here was told in scope meant we were more likely than not to be terminated by HR. I asked my HR partner this question and she told me they are getting all information for above them and they are to treat us as if we are getting terminated

That was MCBU and SJV that received notice on 8/6. My group received notice on 7/28 and it was verbally communicated through our supervisors and we would know within two weeks. Nothing has been communicated since then. I was also told that being in scope doesn't automatically mean you're gone. Trying to stay optimistic that maybe things work out but I figured I would know something by today.

The first notice should have been received on Thursday of last week if you're in scope. This second notice this week of August 10 is your final notice and your last day. You will be on payroll for 60 days. But your last day at the job is the day you get your notice this week. If you're female you might want to talk to a lawyer. SJVBU female workers are organizing a class action lawsuit against this BU.
