Program management office - a disaster

Thanks to the program management office under the direction of S this can be as simple as supporting a particular FEM or some other variation of a board. If you can't fudge numbers that are comprehensible from the comfort of our current position (ie. based on shipment history of this previous generation product, we think this % will go with this "new" product or configuration), the project isn't approved for resourcing. Also, there are 1500+ line PRDs that are essentially checkboxes and there are dedicated "program managers" who deal with all the quirks of "Rational" Focal Point so people can check their boxes. Engineering spends an ungodly number of man hours going back and forth on the PRD check boxes. This is how big companies die.

Innovation died when most of the original Q people left after 2000 stock spike. It's been copy/paste ever since

perhaps the problem with Q is that there are too many recycled and copy-pasted ideas.

Thanks to the program management office under the direction of SM and Moorthy, all new ideas are attacked relentlessly until "proven" to be viable. This covers everything from requests that are as simple as supporting a particular FEM or some other variation of a board. If you can't fudge numbers that are comprehensible from the comfort of our current position (ie. based on shipment history of this previous generation product, we think this % will go with this "new" product or configuration), the project isn't approved for resourcing. IN OTHER WORDS WE CANNOT START A NEW PROJECT UNLESS WE ALREADY KNOW IT'LL BE PROFITABLE.
