Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

I had a great first day at work yesterday.

Started my new job yesterday, and it was good. Positive energy from everyone around. Everyone is busy, but in a good way. No competing team overseas, very sharp people. Efficiently scaled management team and relatively flat structure. Excellent work life balance. Everyone goes home between 6-6:30pm. I am done on this blog here. The world isn't that bad, once you step outside the Q compounds. In fact, it's looking pretty good.

"People are inherently evil and deviant - it's just a matter of time when your new workplace shows it's real face" This is BS. This is what good management is supposed to do - create an environment where that kind of BS is checked and don't create red tape and do maximize your human capital. QCOM ended up not being such an environment. QC'ers should get out of your cave and look around, because certainly not all companies are like QCOM. OP - this is awesome, congrats for getting up and out and doing what is right for you. You'll be much better off in the end.

stock market gains are the best opiate to mask the true illness of a company. but then the stock market bubble eventually bursts, and the heroin stops working. first we blame the dealer. the product seems good, let's just inject more of it. tension forms. why did that group get the first crack at the goods. who do they know? who are they connected with? the VP? the marketing guys? I think they are skimming some off the top. paranoia ensues. colleagues now openly fight for control, making corrupt side deals to sell diluted product on their own terms. Margins plummet. everybody is strung out. nobody works, yet nobody rests.

You will be back to suckle at the teats of Qualcomm once more.

you'll be back. You kept coming back to post the same story about how you got a new job and are thrilled to leave Q. So now you'll just keep coming back to post whenever something at the new company reminds you how different it is from Q (only if it disparages Q). you'll be back....

That is expected and understandable. At least he escaped the Quicksand, didn't he?

Life is always good during the honey moon phase of a new job. Lets hear your thoughts after 1 year or earlier if you run into the typical clowns that make any job miserable.
