What is withheld from Severance? We very short-timers may want to adjust our 401k savings rate & Income Tax W-4 allowances ahead of time. Is it all withheld at the normal rate? No forward medical, dental, health savings, and life insurance withheld at all, right? SSI withheld until it reaches the cap if stacked on top of 2015 pay? So, much lower overall withholdings will make net as a % of gross larger than on our normal checks. Any surprises?

This is what I know. The check will have your normal taxes taken out including social security. About 1/4 or so will be tax. It will come about 5-6 weeks after your last day of work.
