Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Gorgon will be pushed back to late 2016.

Gorgon won't be on line to mid 3rd quarter 2016.....a year from now. Don't let anyone tell you different. But it gets worse.....Chevron is walking a thin line. They may let the unions strike, to have an out to "Why has this project not come on line?" Labor strike!, is a great excuse. Without it, they can't keep saying the same thing and not loose their reputation. The balloting is closing on the 19th. If Chevron lets this strike go through it may not be able to control the chain reaction and Gorgon will be pushed back much farther. Even with a short duration strike you are looking at at least a quarter push back for start up. Which can mean 2017? I think we all know the steaks of this project and Chevron is in panic mode my fellow Chevonites. Again (to repeat), If we advert a strike, most likely a mid 3rd quarter 2016 target for startup and test shipments. 12 months from now.......

"Sitting at Gorgon" forgot to mention that Barrow Island is a class A nature reserve. Yes, there were more people than planned stuck on BWI during a cyclone. However it wasn't because Chevron intended for that. The plane was grounded at the airport due to huge flocks of birds all over the runway. Due to the nature reserve classification, you can't impact the local wildlife... I realize that people are more important than birds but trust me.... Chevron would have gotten in more trouble messing with the birds than having extra people stay on site. Lesser of two evils!

So, what you are posting is "Fvck Yourself, @CX4GR11-3mxiq", since you work for Chevron and are a shareholder. Masochism runs rampant here on the deadwood chopping block last words forum.

If I get my bonus then we got first production. Who cares if it's two more years before the next shipment sails?

Sincerely,

JW

No, f--- you, keu. How do you define 'first production'? Get the first offload to claim victory, then shutdown for the next 18 months to finish the job? The bottom line is the project is still, by any measure, an abject, total, and complete failure. So, f--- the employees, the West Australian stakeholders, and the Chevron shareholders.

Chevron is flying by the seat of its pants in Australia. We got into more than we can handle. Thanks 'Sitting at Gorgon', for keeping us in the loop. Keep the truth coming.

I hated unions....hated them I never saw a reason for them until this project. Did you know Chevron made us stay on the island during a Typhoon and made guys work with a crane to button the hatches. This led to one of the guys getting his legs crushed. He is now incontinent and needs diapers! http://www.miningaustralia.com.au/News/Worker-breaks-legs-during-Barrow-Island-cyclone-pr I can also say that without this skilled labor Chevron would be further back. So you keep complaining how you are treated at Chevron???? Imagine how they treat these blokes. The union is not with fault but Chevron made the bed. Also did you know the union filed SEC paperwork because of Chevrons lying on completion dates and money? http://www.itfglobal.org/en/news-events/press-releases/2014/july/itf-registers-concern-with-us-sec-over-chevrons-apparent-misrepresentations-regarding-gorgon/. They would not evacuate the guys off the island. They were to incompetent to execute the cyclone plan. No food or water. People were running out to go to the bunks to get crackers....YES!!!! We only have category 2 bunkers and this was coming in as a cat 3.http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-03-13/workers-stranded-on-barrow-island-as-cyclone-hits/6311292.

Guys this is by far the worst thing you can ever imagine.

I don't thing anyone was realistically expecting Gorgon to be online until late 4th quarter anyway.

The OP brings up a plausible excuse Chevron can use for the Gorgon delay, but the truth always gets out. Strike or not, Chevron is in a pickle and will pay with a hit to its stock price. An impending scenario of Wheatstone closing down until spot prices go up, is a real possibility. Don't discount this can happen.
