Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Chandler Location!!!

Maybe someone can explain the reason we have admission reps on the floor over here making triple digit income for years doing the same thing other reps are doing but most others barely make 40K. This is not about seniority! There are those who have worked here for years and get paid 1/3 of what DW and a few others make. If stocks were hot commodities and overall outlook of EDMC's future looked more positive, that's one thing. CEO's making millions is unjustifiable considering the school is barely making ends meet but when a selective few who are hand-picked to get certain leads and have been manager's pets for years, it makes one wonder how management can explain this? These guys drive around flaunting expensive MERCEDES and can afford partying it up and taking lavish trips while the remaining 90% of the floor work their fingers to the bone dialing away and barely making ends meet... So, these guys made the Matrix years ago, that was then. Now, management should take a look at the big picture and make some drastic changes in how they pay their pets. It's time to speak up!

I think you mean "cliques" instead of "clicks".

@Anonymous135307, the corruption starts much higher (e.g. Goldman Sachs and now KKR). At EDMC, Todd Nelson did a great deal to take EDMC down several notches. He's now on his third 4-profit zombiecollege........................ https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/homes-infamous-college-profiteers-dahn-shaulis?trk=mp-author-card

Anonymous135032 - shut up! I have worked at Ai for over 15 years, and I know that seniority is misplaced! I have been a professor onsite, full-time since 2000, and have seen faculty come and go with higher salaries than me, and less qualifications, My focus has always been on quality of my classroom instruction, being a part of the team to insure consistency and growth in our major and providing 110% to student success. But all the while, there have been peers with over-inflated egos, less qualifications (no MFA's or even BFA's), and attitudes that somehow manage to stay employed here despite student complaints, and other peer complaints. I have asked time and time again about the discrepancy in the salary, and as I have grown close to HR and my director, I have learned that it is a favoritism and old school club of "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours". Funny, that I am here for (as are some other key faculty) the students and the betterment of our campus (which somehow survived the teach outs), and the faculty in question have jobs elsewhere at other campuses despite being full-time here, openly admit that the classrooms run themselves and they do their own work during instructional time, don't attend open houses and other events, and end and start classes at their convenience. Ill cut you off right now in replying that I stay here because I love my campus and refuse to see it disintegrate without trying to help, am devoted to seeing the students that come in as freshman graduate with solid skills in their senior year, and I wholeheartedly believe that when all is said and done, things have to get better and "house-cleaning of these roaches" will finally happen. When one instructor with less qualifications and devotion to quality instruction and participation in the whole makes almost 15 grand more than another, there is a serious issue! You wonder where the corruption lies, perhaps one should look with the "clicks" in the executive committees.

@135032, This isn't about respecting tenure. There are people that have worked here for years and don't make 6 figures and they work hard too. This is about management selecting who to give leads to. At EDMC you're either making it big because of your connections or you'll eventually be walked out of those revolving doors because of your numbers or because you said something about the ignorant management culture. You must be one those whose benefiting from connections with upper management and worried someone would start looking at your big salary. Selling debt to poor people isn't something to be proud about. Good luck finding a job with EDMC on your resume when the the vacuum sucks you out of those revolving doors. It's coming soon...

I agree. Income inequality is terrible and makes me feel like a 2nd class citizen. These reps do a very good job of telling thelower paid reps how much they make and how awesome it is. Makes me feel insecured. I'm glad others are thinking along the same line and not just me.

It's none of your business how much someone else earns on a yearly basis. Your information is purely speculation and you should be focused on helping students, not hurting fellow teammates.

If you are happy with your job, never lose site of that or compare yourself to someone else. It's apples to oranges.

Respect tenure, get your masters for free and do you.
