Good possibility of Sperry being acquired by GE before the end of the year.

I'm sure the execs are looking at this site right now. BTW. I don't need to make Sperry look bad. They do that on their own. BHI RULES!!

Sperry is good and the people are even better. Stop the propaganda. By saying it is bad all you are trying to do is make it look bad, and are hoping that this may stop the sale.

SPERRY IS JUNK TECH/TOOLS. GE would need to kick in another 3 billion to revamp the gear to meet industry standard. SPERRY is much the same as a Walk-Man, cool in the 90's, but laughable now!!

They make so much money on jet engines, the oil business is just a dalliance. They will do whatever they want. Shareholders won't care.

Deal has to go through as stated by 1010100 it is about Hal pride and Lazar legacy and now given the oil prices, the deal is even more important. If the deal fails, the stock price will sink like a rock, and I would not be surprised if Hal stock goes down to $20 or even lower. Baker stolk would probably drop to 40ies as they will get their 3.5B which will help them stay higher. Just my thoughts guys.

Deal will go through. It's about HAL pride. Plus the Lazar legacy...assets will be bundled up, sold to one (possibly two) buyers to appease DOJ/EU. I'm thinking Siemens will buy Sperry (as the bought Dresser recently). GE will buy NOV & Weatherford.

Well, the breakeven point is $3.5b so estimate was that HAL had to sell $7.5B but oil was $100/bbl+ so companies had plenty of cash and HAL could sell at a premium. Looks like HAL may have to sell even more to satisfy the EU. All sales now will be bottom dollar. The $3.5b payoff may not be looking so bad right now. I think the reasoning behind the merger still makes sense and possibly even more so at this point. It just depends on whether they take ths short term or long term view.

But the question you should really ask is what would the stock price do if the deal fell through? That is all that motivates people any more.

Guys keep it clean. Interesting 134990 , some more info would be good, but here are some things we know:

Merger has to happen as no way we are paying Baker Boys 3.5Bs to end the deal, too late to turn around Dave

We also know that Sperry is being sold

Official words from both Hal and Baker management is Merger happening as planned and Dec as new deadline

GE has been identified as a potential buyer from the very beginning

Questions:

Does it really matter who buys? GE,NOV etc.

Is it possible that the Dec. Deadlines gets extended again? If yes, how many times? And for how long?

In your opinion what is the possibility of merger?
