Bristow, PHI, ERA, etc are much more costly to use than Chevrons own fleet of aircraft. Aircraft operations not only saves the company money versus renting aircraft but it also makes money for the company. All the non Chevron employees that fly out on Chevron aircraft have to pay the "going rate" for the flight to Chevron.

they will just be using more Bristow ... Chevron is the only operator with their own fleet of aircraft. Is this their core business ?

No mechanics means failure in midair...this is a bigger disaster than we all imagined. Damn!

Not many pilots were let go from what I hear only mechanics and a couple support personnel.

Then who the hell is flying the craft now if the pilots have been let go?
