I haven't gotten my walking papers yet (October) I most likely will. But if you haven't taken a step back and looked at the bigger picture, this economy will prove to be hard for everyone throughout the country. I am not going to complain or whine about anything here, as this can happen to us anywhere.(no job is 100% guarantee for anyone) Having been laid off a few times prior to this I would only offer a suggestion that we all keep our pride and integrity about ourselves. Don't get me wrong anyone who knows me downtown knows I'm the most un-politically correct employee in our building. And I don't hold my tongue for anyone. (I say that only because some one is probably going to comment I'm a hard core cvx cool aid kiss ass, which is why I am confident I'll be on the oct chopping block) but we still have families to provide for. We can't lose ourselves and our focus. Thanks for reading the rant and God bless all Americans in this trying times.

Bs OP, I am the most politically incorrect person in downtown. Started turnover today, I am ok with it but would prefer to not deal with lugging a bag of books home each night next week but 14 years of ref material adds up. Have not been let go but I am sure R1 will be my exit as my position is not a go forward role. I trust there is a company out there that wants employees that tell it like it is and not some candy coated nonsense. Chevron will be better on the back end of this and for those that stay, please for the love of god stop being silent, speak up when goof ball hi pots take you, your team and look now your company down a sewer pipe. It is up to each of us to do the right thing, we can't just sit back and let a small group of people make the wrong decisions. For every one who reads this, when was the last time you called the hotline, jumped chain of command or formally protested a bad decision. Probably never and for 30 plus % of you, you will end up the same as the small number who showed up every day and tried. At least go out with a modicum of respect knowing you tried to make things better.
Wow. You nailed it.good luck to you .
Look outside of oil and gas! The economy is good after 7 years of shit! Oil and gas was terrific after the sub prime crash. Now we have turned the corner. If you have be played off before you are not a long time chevron drone and will get work and succeed. I feel for the 30 year 52 yo chevron drone that truly can't navigate a real job.
