Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How many will be left of the 61,500 next year?

We have about 61,500 employees, excluding gas station employees, Monday this week. How many will we have this time next year?

There will be no rotation to any country as soon as they can make it happen. It's already happening in D&C office roles and some facility roles but will be across the board eventually and I would imagine this would include rig personnel. I would also imagine we will see the number of offshore personnel decrees as you need two people to do one persons job from the office.

The MCPs are coming to an end. I think the West Tuscana is on contract with the BU through next year.

My husband is a company man and is currently on the West Tucana offshore Angola.

He has worked for Chevron for 30 plus years. Starting out as a rough neck working up to his current position. He has been telling me he is a bit nervous about a possible lay off personally..... What does the forecast look like for Angola offshore ventures ?

We had 50,000 employees in 2003 when oil was lower than it is now. http://www.statista.com/statistics/277064/number-of-chevron-employees/

29,000 by YE 2106 with an expat pool coming mainly from low cost locations e.g. Asia. That is approx 10% higher than the number of employees the last time oil was 42/b. Also last time oil was 42/b most expats came from the UK and were high cost. Staff aug although taking a severe hit now will be the swing shift and will be limited to specific roles, functions, duration and cost will be scrutinized for all staff aug spend.

By my rough calculation, I think ~15,000 employees will have to be let go if they have to cover the dividend with oil prices lingering around $45.

I left Chevron 2 years ago because of piss poor leadership. I just found this board. We are also having massive cuts. I have to laugh at my Shell guys. They think favoritism ranks high here. Shell is not even close to the debacle they call Chevron. I tell everyone I was sent here by God to tell them NO IT'S NOT AS BAD AS IT GETS, CHEVRON IS!!!!!!!!!! Shell is screwed up but Chevron truly takes the cake. At Chevron your D&C managers do not know D&C? And OE??? We never got rid of the first OE system then rolled in a new one. I can bet my bottom dollar I can go through any element and stump any Chevron SME on that broke ass shit. I won't name names but only a D7C manager at Chevron could not tell the difference from a wireline to a fishline. Truly they did not understand the basics. The talk over here is hot and heavy on Gorgon and Wheatstone and Bigfoot. The consensus is if oil prices stay low Chevron will have to restructure to not go into bankruptcy. How did the leadership make a 100 Billion dollar bet? That's a lot of coin to put on the table! And they lost the bet big time....snake eyes. Shell is in deep shit in Alaska. They are divesting all of Nigeria and cutting the North Sea. But we still will have cash. Good luck my brethren and yes Chevron is that screwed up. Your not imagining it! As bad as it is here I can only imagine what you are dealing with. We have layoffs at Shell not ROM',s RAE's Project blah....WTF with the names?

Nigeria had cuts last year - about 5% but I expect there may be some more this year.

Another question - are all the layoffs in the US and Canada? What is going on in Kazakhstan, Australia, Nigeria, Angola, UK?

My boss said $50/bbl Brent was the P10 forecast for the current layoffs. We'll we're below that. I think we're (employees) are in for even more trouble.
