Wow......thought this post would arouse some passion seeing the "cash flow pickle" CVX is in not to mention all the other nonsense that is happening over last 6 years at CVX!!

I'm fed up with overly politically correct, sugar-coat everything, no accountability, Chevron Way. I thought I was getting into the oil industry, not a sorority; the drama is ridiculous. Example: I was told that I wasn't being a "team player." I asked what NORMS I was exhibiting, and they couldn't come up with anything because I keep my hands clean. What they meant to say is "you don't hug enough, and you need to agree with all of our stupid ideas while allowing us to suck at our jobs and fail miserably trying to do yours." That felt good to say.

I hope this post doesnt turn into a bunch of smartass remarks from you young know it alls. 30 years ago we watched each others backs, now it seems some of our managers kept thier mouth shut for fear of firing them and some good hardworking young people under them. I sure as hell hope that whoever is going to bring this company back will take notice of the common sense below the leadership teams level and get rid of the detractors we have now.

Wow it sounds like the VP of AMBU would be better suited for San Roman than Pittsburgh!!

Have any of you been to that new BU AMBU. The VP (That's the highest position in the BU I believe) is off kilter. He goes by Nigel and has a fake British accent! See, he told me he was raised in America and then his Dad moved to England when he was 16. I told him I was surprised he picked up an accent. He said, "Well, people find it sexy." See, he said PEOPLE, not woman!!!!!!. He made me feel very uncomfortable by asking me how much I bench and if I have a girl friend. Of course I have a girl friend and I can bench 185....that is two 45's and two quarters on the bar buddy so back off! What man asks you if you are wearing cologne and what type because it "Smells of pine wood"? I wanted to say its Polo, but I told him it was Irish Spring soap, as I did not want to give him any ammunition for his gun. I would fire him for making attractive young men like me feel very awkward. I get "Wow you are good looking" at least 2-3 times a day from woman, but when a VP says "Hey good lookin you wanna go out to get Knackered?" it throw your mojo off! I changed my cloths and hair style, I don't want anyone thinking I lean the other way or anything like that. I know everyone respects that sort of life style in Chevron, and so do I, as long as you don't keep smelling my hair and asking what type of shampoo I use to LATHER UP WITH. Come on, you can't work in the oil field and be like that! I think he should be on the list. I also heard that the BU is falling behind. He should be fired for that too.

Repost fixed - The root cause of the fiasco that is Chevron is the piss poor management. The management has created this Chevron Way, the right way culture, of behavior based (be nice, avoid confrontation or present disagreement the "right way") bullshit. Build a clique of friends John's answer: "No, Darling we will never leave California. Remember our history - Standard Oil of CA.... yadda, yadda, yadda". Yea, yea, there are oil wells in Bakersf-ingfield and they will stay there. Look around the San Ramon campus and you see more truth than all that nice gibberish. You Chevroids really love your kool-aid. Looking up facts, acting on them and getting results... .

Executives responsable for Gorgon, Wheatstone, ALNG, AMBU......what is that 125bn. How do you respect that level of ineptitude. Throw in a half dozen tendons and an army of mcp pm's driven by delivering dsp's that make piles of crap look like gold nuggets with no repercussions when it all hits the fan....what is there to respect? Solution, have engineers actually engineer something - stop outsourcing it or at least get rid of the redundant positions and please do not just move the engineers to SCM. Too many Cracker Jack engineers chasing metrics in that hole of an org. Fin/accounting, promote some people with skill and knowledge, enough MBA program networkers that think finance & accounting are done in PowerPoint. IT.....where to start, how about admitting you are currently 4 times larger than needed, your asset base still has dot matrix printers being depreciated and stop paying maint fees on sw no one uses. HR-not sure a solution exists so just fire them all and try again with a new approach and this time understand OC should be under your remit. I can go on and on but let me wrap up with leaders, from team leads to execs...promote or hire some. More data isn't better data it's just more shit you don't understand.
