Hey OP: Can you not count backwards? Q. will try for an end of year spike in the price of stock, which is one reason why layoffs are usually in November. The people who get layoff notices in November will be downgraded in October. The reviews have to be drafted by September. A PIP usually takes 30-60 days. So the PIPs will not even begin in earnest until July or August. This does not rule out that they will be continuously screwing over people in smaller batches to attempt to increase the rate of attrition.

well some one told me this last two years too !!!! ....the big question is just think rationally ..... do you need so many directors and VPs and managers in a company ....it defies common sense.... layoff is a necessity in Qualcomm.... the only difference between Qualcomm and Intel is that Intel CEO writes an email to everyone telling them about layoffs...while Qualcomm will do through PIPs and politics...... as QUALCOMM has "official" layoffs only in the last two years so Qualcomm employees are not used to the idea of getting laid off...... that's why there are so many postings on this website..... even with mediaflo shutdown no official layoff....SM has changed all that....
also one has to see where is the growth.... apple/Samsung are done who control majority of market are less likely to come back. the rest are minnows like htc/oppo/sony who split between QUALCOMM and mediate.... there is some talk about server....it will take a few years to have something worth while ...on top of it you are going against intel where AMD has struggled for so long........

just wait.... nov 2013 layoffs !! nov 2014 layoffs!! .....wait till nov 2015 due date....also SM mentioned they are getting a external agency to look into all this....it was in the news..... QUALCOMM is not intel where CEO sends an email about layoffs..... but it is going to happen.....just sit tight..... the 5000 number is bogus...
