Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Thank You

This has been the most interesting site in the last two months. Keep it coming. Checking it daily . . does that mean I don't have anything else to do? NO!

Yes this board is great. When people talk about other comp(anise laying off it is true. But the other companies at least did there own reorg. Chevron had to hire the joke called BSG. I was already told there will be no ryme or reason to who stays and who goes. It is if you are liked by the decision making manager.

I left Chevron in 2010 for BP then went to Exxon where I am currently working now. I can say without a doubt Chevron is the most broke organization in oil and gas. Now Exxon is brutal. But it is results oriented. Also ass kissers are ostracized. EVRYONE STALLS AT CHEVRON TO MAKE A DECISION....WHY? Bad decisions get you in trouble where no decisions can be blamed on "The Big Company".

Don't fool yourself and listen to your gut Chevron is broke guys. And guess what the stress is not worth it....life is better after Chevron. Good luck and God Bless!

Well it takes the so long to make a decision and BSG has to have their expertise.... I have never worked for a company where no one can make a quick decision. The cost of not making decisions faster, can put the company in jeopardy.

Chevron employees are not posting because they somehow truly believe that if they keep being good boys and girls and show up for work they won't feel the axe's finely honed edge. Or, maybe if they hide behind a computer screen long enough that they will be magically passed over at ROM time. Or they think someone Watson will know it's them! Heads in the sand!

I'm in ETC. About 60-70 people in my unit. High ups are pretty worried. I'm guessing the cut is 25% on average for ETC but some groups could get hit worse, some less.

There are probably over five thousand messages on the topic (layoffs) at different oil and gas company sites here. I landed here a few days ago but I noticed that BP has hundreds of messages, Conoco, Baker and Hughes and Halliburton too, a lot of service companies have ton of messages. In our case we were lucky this Winter and Spring as we were not laying off a lot of people. I guess things have changed now, you can see how many views each post here gets, so I reckon there are hundreds of Chevron folks checking this out daily. With that being said, we’d need to have a few thousands of views or visitors to have a meaningful discussion since most people just read and do not post as they are afraid. I’ll post if I hear anything, for now all I can tell you that my folks are super anxious and everyone is waiting to see how things will play out.

Sad when we have to resort to online research to get a idea of what's going on. They keep telling us it's coming, it's coming soon, get ready, it's coming. Its driving me nuts and creating poor moral and a very anxious group. We pay millions to a consulting firm to help us save money as if they have the key to our business. Leadership should lead in good and bad times and should keep us in the right shape. I will stay hopeful that perhaps after this the org will somehow be better. In a optimist though.
