Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

You guys see how the Samsung's S6 sales are sucking wind...That's not good.

That means tier 1 phone makers (with the exception of apple) are struggling and higher end phones are reaching saturation....That also means the only place to go is low end, low cost "good enough phones"... Not good.

What do you expect? Everyone who needs one in this country, Europe, and most of the emerging markets has a cell phone. No one is going to spend money for a new one unless there's a significant difference between the new one and the old one. QC needs R&D to figure out what the next "shiny object" invention will be.

http://armdevices.net/2015/07/02/indiegogo-28-ly-android-phone-buy-directly-from-factory/

1-core phones, $28 for 25+

2-core phones, $53 for 25+

4-core phones, $119 for 25+

There's not a lot of royalty in a $28 phone.

I don't think Q's numbers is going to be that bad. Namely, we haven't pre-announced a profit warning, and it's there's less than 18 days before earnings announcement, so any sort of profit warning would have already come out.....
