Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Ever notice how happy and self-important the HR twits act in times like these? May there be a special place in Hell for them.

HR is there to protect the company. They are not your friend. Same goes for Ombuds. Look at who pays them.

HR starts every statement/answer with the term 'Generally Speaking'. Well, generally speaking Chevrons HR sucks...and always has. I'm glad they outsource the important benefits management stuff.

Anonymous 114444, Keep in mind what HR is. It's there to protect the company. Employees who go to HR crying should realize HR is there to make sure the company has jumped through all the hoops to avoid a lawsuit. They don't care if you're fired. They only care if you're fired and could have a plausible case against the company. if they provide a process for you to complain it's because that protects the company. They're there to save the company money. Bottom line. You can see it on other fronts too. If you ever relocate check their math on your paycheck. Its not always right and will always err on the underpayment side. Further policies frequently get interpreted in a manner to save the company money. Not you. I hate to say it but ditto for the ombudsman. The process is there to protect the company. While the ombudsman does have certain confidentiality obligations the fact that they provide one is to protect the company.

So why is AMBU hr allowed to take trips to Houston and get tuition reimbursements when all the other departments are cutting. Hmm. Sounds like a little bit unfair.

Unfortunately, the use HR as a development area! They put people in positions that are not qualified! HR stands for Human Resources... A resource that employees, supervisors and managers should be able to go to and not feel threatened. HR at Chevron is a cut throat department that only cares about themselves, no one else, but their careers and pockets. Because they don't t take the time to learn the business, meaning understanding the benefits, payroll, business acumen in the units they support, nor do they take the time to talk to the employees, they look for dirt to make them look good.... I have seen them encourage people to go onto STD for mental stress, just because they are being a pain in the rump....and they don't want to deal with them. Its sad and during this time, they should be their to support the human population... instead they continue act like jerks because they feel like they are on top and can screw with people. KARMA will prevail, she always does.....

Which department is more incompetent, HES or HR. I go with HR. They had only one good HR business partner in the Pittsburgh ROM. Top notch, no gossip and...wait, wait, wait, was able to answer HR related questions. Oh and she had an educational background in HR. She was a Hypo and THEY FIRED HER! The remaining HR department all are taking certificate type programs because they no nothing about HR. The HR Manager is best friends with the VP Nigel Hear. She spends all of her time in his office, on the phone with him. In key leadership meeting she will make eye contact with the ass wipe Hearne to see his read before she answers any questions.?????....it would be quite hysterical if it weren't so sad.

You are in for a real treat on the ROM. Broke.

Hey "Dude", I completely agree with you. I have always had very little respect for HR and always will. I know someone in mass media sales for a major network (in the Fortune 500) who was fired while being 9 months pregnant for no justifiable reason other than her manager didn't like her, I kid you not. The manager seemed to think for some arbitrary reason she would not come back after her maternity leave and had some other personal reasosn. Without going into too much detail, this woman suspected she was going to be fired and consulted with HR on several occasions prior to her termination. She explicitly stated to HR that she was being discriminated against because of her pregnancy and noted our federal laws against discrimination. HR said they noted her concerns. She was fired in the end anyway because HR again just takes orders and has so common sense or conscience.

Believe it or not, there is justice in this world. After her child was born, this woman contacted the EEOC. They took on the case and had no question there was discrimination involved. They gave the company a choice to settle out of court or be subject to long and painful federal investigation with an expensive court case. They settled out of court. She was awarded quite a bit of money (not sure how much, but rumor has it she doesn't have a mortgage payment anymore). There's more! Her co-workers were appalled by management's decision and 2/3 of the sales dept. voluntarily quit. Higher-level management eventually fired the manager because of his actions, loss of revenue (lawsuit and sales), and excessive turnover under his watch. Believe it or not, all of this happened last year! I don't know what happened to HR, but I suspect they were also fired over incompetence.

"Shut the f**k up HR (Donny)"!
