Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What does "no packages" really mean?

The standard package for the last 25 plus years meant 2 weeks per year up to 26 years service which was aways a nice incentive for people on the edge of retirement to just jump ship. I can't believe the "new package" is just your last paycheck plus your unused vacation. Does this just mean that the company isn't taking volunteers this time, but that the severance package is the same, or is the company really saying no severance? Any insights?

They must be screwing over the US people then. ALL Expats in my group were offered jobs and relocation to Houston if they wanted it!

Yes they did offer the move then did take it away. I have a friend in Pittsburgh looking for a job back in the Bay area. They said these are benefits and can legally change there mind at any time. I feel different as this was a contract implicitly entered. Another employee told me he asked for an email before he moved that if layed off they would move him back to Texas. He had the email and they won't move him. THEY CHANGED THERE MIND AND ITS THE BU's PEROGATIVE TO DO THAT is the message. I would be surprised if Chevron actually pays out a package. Oh and I would not expect people to be let go this year.....I will post on this board separately

Be shocked the policy has always been if Chevron moves you then lays you off you within two years of you assignment they would move you back. This was included in the AMBU package. Guess what when it was time to move folks back Chevron said we changed our mind! Think about that for a moment. People are highly encouraged to go to that shit hole. Then they get layed off and stuck. Ask, don't take my word for it. And the reason was cost.

The severance package is still viewable on the HR intranet site. An email was sent out in January stating that the severance package for 2015 had been approved by the Board. I don't believe that would change overnight. Mostly, Chevron has been a good place to work. I'd be shocked if they became this radical and just cut heads with one final paycheck.

ETC Post . . that is very interesting. Had a long time Canadian Co-Worker "retire" at the end of June. By your comment, he must have received one of those sweet deals.

I was told that last night. That it has been changed to your final check and vacation. I did ask what happened as the other layoffs got 2 weeks. The answer was the company is in much worse financial shape now and can not afford it. BTW I talked with a friend that got fired in a previous ROM he said ensure you get your personal stuff out of the office asd you can not get back in when they fire your ass. They promised to mail everything to you and he said no one got everything, Just some of there stuff and of course no one is in charge and your office is bare. So they threw the rest out. Clear your shit out.

Watson got a nice raise this last year. . .I got a raise too, but then I realized that mine is so small no one would notice.

The people who were on the list for packages and sweet deals have already gone. What? Your manager didn't tell you? I could write for days telling you what's going on behind the scenes! You people better get out of there and land a new job!
