Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Can we get a pool started for the number of employees laid off by December 31st? Price is Right rules so if you go over you lose.

Also, none of this bidding a guess one employee higher than someone else. That's just rude.

Employees are a future liability...benifits, pension all that shit we'll have to pay out in the future.

Get ready for the "uber economy folks". Everyone a 1099! It's the GOP's dream of an "ownership society"....you are on your own!

I don't understand the contractors either. They did not get cut. They arte slowly thinning the heard. My only explanation is we all know that contractors do all of the work. If I am an FE (Pick The Profession) I hire a contractor to do my job while I drink coffee and tell everyone how hard I work.

Spit on. The contractors are usually let go first because they are a variable cost. Not so at Chevron. It is a sign of kickbacks going to the managers using long-term contractors. Is your business unit only cutting employees, not contractors?

Get the expats but Chevron still has no excuses to keep all of those contractors! It's unethical and it's sending the wrong message to our youth.

This ROM is centered around North America. Chevron has to plan differently for the others as labor law favors the individual worker where as in the U.S. it favors business. That is why most expats are still aboard. I don't think this is obvious to most as Chevron is not very transparent.

Just do the math. Take the number of opcos and divisions going through the ROM and subtract 25%. You may try to underestimate at about 22% because some of the good old boys and gals will be saved, because they know too much about their managers' corruption and could expose them.

You know the PSG 28-36s have already earned the SIP. They have already passed the July 1, mark.

Wow I did not know getting layed off was akin to ISIS, and Yemen. I am sure others would find you the asshole to even equate the two. So forgetting about the asshole, and understanding don't sweat the small stuff and it's all small stuff.....2,500 in Houston. Houston has 10,000 and the two previous ROM's were at 25%. Chevron has stated as much. 160 in Pittsburgh, 130 in Calgary....add Cali in its 4,000 plus for first ROM.

No.Sorry. I changed my mind. Great idea. While we're at it, let's start a whole group. As well as layed off former employees, let's also start some more lines. I have a few ideas. 1) number of refugees who will die in the Med trying to reach Europe 2) number of Greeks who will commit suicide because they don't have better options (remember Spain?) 3) number of Western heads removed by ISIS 4) number of innocents killed in Yemen. Why not? It's just gambling with peoples' lives. Asshole.
