Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Layoffs will be good if

  • Get rid of low permormers

  • Get rid of VP's and Directors with single or no reports

  • Get rid of expensive people who are only around for historical reasons that they help build the company, but really dont do much anymore.

(They must have made lot in the past, so should they still be owed current salaries and perks?)

  • Get rid of useless projects that do not contribute or will not contribute to the bottom line.

  • Please do not drag it out, just get a big layoff done, and lets move forward.

I am concerned about replacement of Permanent employees, with h1b contractors, as it might be "cash positive" in the short term, but would deteriorate the company in the long term. Unless the permanent employees are just sitting on their cushy job.

Hopefully BCG is coming in to do a professional job, and get rid of the waste.

The number of projects should be reduced, so that we are not just chasing our tail all the time, and we should have a portion of project people looking ahead to what is next.

I am looking forward to a successful layoff, and an improved company.

Ask Target folks (5K cut in March) how good of a job BCG did over there. They have like 10,000 messages here.
