Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

This is what has me thinking we could see $30 oil in just a few months.

If crude’s slump back to a six-year low looks bad, it’s even worse when you reflect that summer is supposed to be peak season for oil consumption.

"Summer is when refineries are all running hard, so actual demand for crude is as good as it gets,” notes Citi's Seth Kleinman, London-based head of energy strategy, but U.S. crude futures have lost 30 percent since the start of June, set for the biggest drop since the West Texas Intermediate crude contract started trading in 1983.

That beats the summer plunges during the global financial crisis of 2008, the Asian economic slump in 1998 and the global supply glut of 1986.

Oil is going to drop below $10, no below $5, no it will be given for free. Oil companies will pay you to use their gas!!!!! Get a grip guys. Oil still is THE most valuable commodity in the history of the mankind. If Arabs want too throw away their oil wealth good for them! and beteer for the rest of the world. U.S. Oil is not going anywhere, it will be there when we need it. Enjoy the cheap Arab oil while you can have it. Yes it is hurting the U.S. Oil workers today but the rest of the people are saving big time. Good for the overall economy. Look at the big picture.....

The guy in the news channel last night said the oil industry in the USA will shut down for good with the loss of much more jobs

We can't compete with the Arabs and should never have tried to do that

Oh my god what a mess we are in

Yes i agree. You could describe it as being in the eye of the hurricane now. By late September it will get much worse. Price of oil could tumble to $10 dollars a barrel.
