80% of the Bartlesville workforce wants to work anywhere but Bartlesville. Bartlesville is a shithole. I have serious concerns for an employee with a desire to work in Bartlesville.

80% of the Bartlesville workforce does NOT live in Tulsa. That entire post is completely inaccurate.
If you take all of the worst rumors and put them together into a single plan, the actual reductions will be worse. Oil is approaching the $30's and COP is bleeding money, cannot borrow more, and has promised the dividend as the top priority. This is going to leave a mark. It's our time.
They won't send back all expats in Houston while they will cut US employees.
And those remaining will be working Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to try and learn the jobs of those laid off in their group.
Jesus - how many people are getting laid off if it is going to take 6 weeks?
ConocoPhillips still owns the POB and IC buildings. Check your public resources.
Again, Bartlesville does provide a service that cannot just be eliminated. If you move those jobs out, you either replace them at a higher cost in Houston or you outsource overseas. Those are your options.
Despite what engineers may tell you, the company cannot function without Finance and IT.
I've heard 2nd week of Sept it's all going down. %40 cut across the board.
We did the math and get to 50% loss of the jobs in geologic technology, exploration groups, project development, investment appraisal, and many corporate staffs. That is just based on the cost reduction targets and exiting deepwater exploration. Business units, like Lower 48, indonesia, malaysia, and norway, thankfully can hide their cuts in savings from less activities and thus lose fewer staff like 10%. At least we save the business units from the pain as they are the important ones anyway.

Bville is done for ConocoPhillips. There is zero purpose for their existence in bville. It's high overhead zero growth. They don't own the buildings anymore, they sold them quietly a long time ago and are on a lease. If they leave bville ultimately they leave the cost of multiple facilities, security, utilities, daily jet travel, community relations costs, etc. that's before any human capital savings. 80% of Bartlesville I've been told live in Tulsa. They have to report that to carriers on benefits. That's a huge savings. What do they leave behind? Half of the companies history of the Phillips side which can easily be absorbed and sold under the Phillips 66 which honestly is more appropriate.
Is finance in bville a center and 50% cut?
What is source for 50% cuts? Latest numbers heard were 30%
From my experience, they offer support to the BUs on technical issues. I've worked with a GPE production engineer who helped develop and roll out PLOT to help assets optimize their plunger wells as well as a few GPE mechanical engineers who assisted in compression reviews of an asset's reciprocating compressor units similar to how lease reviews are done. I believe they also research and pilot new technologies throughout the BUs.
thank you, even though I know what their name is I still couldn't tell you what they do.
It stands for Global Production Excellence.
forgive my ignorance but what is GPE?
Center groups (Supply Chain, GPE, Facilities etc) to be cut by 50%. Lesser cuts at Business Units.
Must put that new $50 million dollar private jet to good use...
Ryan has a townhall in Canada on 2 Sept. dont be surprised if you read the news on 3 Sep "Shoes thrown on ConocoPhillips CEO while addressing employees"
Ryan Lance has a town hall In bville on sept 17. He might need bodyguards
I heard from a manager today that something happens sept. 17th. The COST team finishes up end of August so Sept. 17 makes sense.
Well, Thanks Giving is going to suck or great!
How do you know? Source?
