got a call from Exxon a few months back, I let my loyalty get in the way. I guess we will see if it pays out or comes back to hurt me.

Layoff via ConocoPhillips and receive a severance package for X years of service. Layoff via new employer in the oil and gas industry and receive 0 severance. Not a good time to change jobs within the same industry.
I did the same thing. Didn't take the job because it paid a little less but i would be making the same now because of the raise freeze.
LOYALTY? Anytime you get a better offer . . . think of yourself first! NO company thinks of you at all!
