Chevron culture could not exist with the Phillips guys, chevron would get bitch slapped. We are just to sensitive and indecisive. worst nightmare is any M&A with COP, there would be blood.

No one is going to buy the Wheatstone and Gorgon cash drains.

Chevron is still too big to be bought out by another U.S. company. Forget about it getting bought out by a foreign company. It won't be approved.

No truth at all to that rumor. Won't happen. Can't happen.

Highly unlikely. No one will finance any deals with Chevron on life support. Watson would get a kick stiff in the ass and told go pick up all the shit in your back yard, Gorgon, Bigfoot, AMBU, Wheastone, Angola before you talk acquisition. COP market cap is below 60 B the same price as BG when Shell bought them. No merger an acquisition. Chevron can't acquire a pack of rubbers and some smokes at this point!

Interesting concept. I thought Exxon would be buying. Makes since to start downsizing, let the stock price tank to a price closer to Exxon's. Just a thought.

Seems unlikely. Conoco is the E&P company, and is separate from Phillips 66, the downstream company. So you'd have to figure out which side was being merged, first off. Second, neither is entirely likely since it would be more like a buyout (just from a size standpoint).

If there is synergy why not?

Expect massive layoffs though.
