Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

World economy is more or less in stagnation for the past 15years

The life usage models didn't change much for a long time. We produced more of the same thing over and over driving it to the best point of cost-value. Moore's law is falling apart, oil production is too high, tech needs are saturated, we have all the food we want in developed countries. But: the clean water reserves are depleting, we still burn fossil fuels, we commute too much, technology promissed better lives but we have less time and are always in a rush. Quality of life sucks for most. All a gigatic waste of time and resources. A possible macro change is in making life more efficient. Improve tranportation through mass transit, optimize energy production and delivery, improve water usage, use of money and saving for retirement, proportional distribution of wealth (10% of popularion should have 10% of wealth). You people should think along these lines rather than adding a new chipset feature. Life doesn't end with Q or the extra million you put in the CEO pockets. We need more engineers to work on hard things. What was easy is already done. Business and capital will always go the easy way and eventually end in a ditch. We are all capable of thinking and solve hard problems, but we are trapped into paying enormous amounts for education, housing and... lifestyle (and prozac). Think!

Stagnation is true. Takes so much more debt to produce gdp growth . 3 credit bubbles in 15 years is not good. Big deal, you can text and drive more easily now. And even call a cab with an app. That's not progress

Stagnation? Are you nuts? Ecommerce took of in post 2000, everyone shops online, do you even remember how painful and retarded it was before? Smartphone revolution? Have you missed that one? You have a GPS and camera in every pocket, this is a paradigm shift regardless of the criteria you use. Everything is marerially better than in 2000, we just do not notice it. Try to compare 1965 with 1980. What kind of progress have we made during that time. 1950 with 1965 how about that. I am not even go into 1875 and 1900. Your post makes no sense.

Well said ..unfortunately that's the best we know and have been taught, maybe deliberately maybe accidentally. To think along these lines will require going against the wind. It will require spending time and taking a few risks. And we are averse to doing precisely that. It's a vicious cycle which needs a bit of courage to break
