Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

The end is nigh!

If the DOJ fail to approve the merge at year end, or HAL pull out ..BHI stock will crash and the company will go into receivership.

If HAL were ruthless they could pull out, pay the $34billion penalty and still pick up the pieces of BHI they were originally chasing for below the initial deal price and no headcount layoffs to deal with. Most of the BHI has already departed one way or another. Such a shame to see a once good company driven under by gross mismanagement. Checkmate so to speak..

They can survive. But they need to go back to basics. Get rid of pressure pumping and just keep original baker fluid pumping. Seem to work there. Always made profit. No layoffs. It's pressure pumping that broke them.

What happens to Baker if the deal doesn't go through? Can they survive or will someone else buy them?

It won't get approved. 3 unions have to all approve. If it was that easy then why they are having problems???? Now don't tell me this is normal. Schlimberger controls the EU. They are fighting it.

It wouldn't be a 34 billion dollar penalty. That's the buy out total. Halliburton would owe Baker 1.5 billion if Halliburton backed out. They'd pay Baker 3.5 billion if anti-trust/government approval falls through. Either way, 1.5-3.5 billion isn't a sum Halliburton could easy digest, especially during a downturn. Halliburton isn't playing a long game to destroy a rival. They are doing everything possible to get the deal pushed through.

They would have to pay 3.5billion and to think that baker hughes wouldnt of already considered this seems a bit much.. The tell tale sign will be share price dropping fast a week before an anouncement ..
