Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Dear Qualcomm Employees that are holding onto your ESPP shares,

Thanks for purchasing company shares and holding onto those shares, believing in the company's future. I appreciate that. I appreciate that why you used your own money to buy company shares at a supposedly discount, and holding on to them, I was able to sell my millions of executive compensation shares every month, to pay for my luxurious lifestyle, despite having been a terrible leader... If it weren't for you folks, how else would my Ferrari be fed properly? Thank you... -----Steve M.

Never a good idea to invest in the company where you work. The ESPP plan was (and is) a great deal, but always best to sell the shares immediately and lock in a guaranteed 15% ROI in a six month period (more when the stock ends higher). I saw several people back in the late 90's/early 2000 ride millions of dollars in vested options into the dirt. First convinced that what goes way continues to go up, and second, waiting for the stick to return to previous value. Set a schedule for RSUs & option sales. preferably selling on vest date, and stick to it, no matter what happens. Investing in the company you work for exposes you to a double risk. You loose your job and loose your shirt on stock at the same time. And, by the way, only an arrogant fool invests in individual stocks in the first place. The statistics are not on your side. Spread your risk and maintain your expected long term return by investing in lox cost index funds. Vanguard is your best option.

whatever. Holding onto shares bought at 14 worked out well. Holding on to shares bought at 75 not so well. Win some lose some.
