139754 - Hahahah, stick together. Management has achieved exactly what they wanted - worker bees now turning on one another. Things are going to get worse before they improve…..

I have lived all over with the company including Bartlesville and Houston. I enjoy both places very much and for different reasons. Bartlesville offers a great family environment with no commute and is great for the small town people. Houston offers plenty of entertainment and things to do and a lot of places in Houston have a more urban feel. However at this current time the company will do what it sees is best for business, whether you agree with the decisions or not. Hopefully whatever happens I hope people are able to stay strong and survive this downturn, whether with COP or another company. We are all in this together, or should be.

Analysts commonly refer to ConocoPhillips as "Conoco". Employees commonly refer to Bartlesville as "shithole".

How in the hell is the Phillips part of the name confusing? Not sure if you remember, but Conoco and Phillips merged and the company is made up of assets and people from each. Hence the name.

Also, the anti Bartlesville people are clueless. Many of them have never even visited the Bartlesville campus.

I can speak from both points of view, I have lived in Bartlesville and Houston and can say there are good and bad things about both. The family atmosphere is much nicer in Bartlesville and I felt our group was closer, Houston everyone keeps to themselves and it is a bit more stressful. I lived in Colonial Estates and thought the prices were reasonable and enjoyed my neighbors. Houston I hardly know my neighbors. In times like this I am glad to be in Houston because there are more job opportunities here. In Bartlesville there is really only one game in town and getting laid off there is more devastating. I have many good friends in Bartlesville and don't want to see any of them hurt by this whole situation. I don't understand the animosity between the two sites. Just remember, as employees we are all screwed by mismanagement that looks out for everyone else but us.

Territorial protection is just reality. No matter where the layoffs take place it will affect many more people than just the employee. Is a Bartlesville job more important than one in Houston, Wyoming or West Texas? I'm sure there are many strong opinions on each. If a manager decides the job is not necessary anymore more then it's gone. Times are tough everywhere.

More details on the layoffs please!

And to the anti-Bartlesville person, you clearly had something traumatic happen to you. There is good work being done here & thousands of people rely on these jobs staying in Bartlesville, not just the employees. You are harbor so much hate. I feel sorry for you.

Oh so true. The ConocoPhillips name continues to confuse customers and investors and employees. The Phillips in the name serves no purpose.

It's about time. Run all those breeders out of there. Everybody, and I mean everybody, needs to be in Houston where everything is a challenge, not this Mayberry crap like they have in Bartlesville.
