Even at a "cheap" rate of $45 per hour, we pay $100k annual in the end for most contractors (General cheap ones). Average employee including all the over head is only $200k. Difference is between a position that waits to be told what to do and one that leads and can figure out what needs to be done. You get what you pay for.

The $s excludes higher level management. ETC contractors tend to be more competent too.

Don't forget the cost of those $500/hr BCG consultants that never had oil/gas experience until they hit Chevron on three separate engagements and used all three as vague dots on a chart of experience. "We have loads of oil/gas experience!" Oh yeah, where? "SJV, Downstream S&T, and this ORG ROM." Uh, that's all chevron. When did you have these engagements? "Now."

Contractor rates are way down and they are cheaper than employees. No health insurance, 401k match, pension, retiree healthcare or severance when fired.

A part time employee will never produce more than a full time employee can. A part time employee will never be loyal or pretend to be.

It seems that we are hiring contractors while we are trying to lay off people
