Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Past and recent layoffs......competent people gone

NOV will crash and burn unless they get rid of the corporate thugs, corporate riff-raff managers with zero vision and those with backward thinking. You have long standing professionals who have many years of experience. They don't need to be told what to do by people who sit on the sidelines. Good riddance!

Uuuummmm NOV lower level managers IQ is right around 35 and upper management IQ is somewhere around 50. Regardless, it's their INSECURITY and NO SELF-ESTEEM that drives them to do the most malicious and malevolent behavior. Do they actually think they can just dump on people and not come back around on them or their children? One way or another it will come back around. I guess those idiotic twats will never learn. Oh wait! Their IQ's .......retardation level.lol

If you speak up you are labeled a troublemaker and they will get rid of you, one way or another. Management does NOT want anyone who is smarter than them and that is anyone with an IQ over 70.

Anonymous142237, sooner or later it will all catch up and bam karma kicks in. When people do vile & corrupt things to get what they want, it will eventually backfire and come back to bite them in the ass. Wrongdoing doesn't last forever and the price they pay is enormous. It may not seem like it at the time, but it will happen. There are a lot of corrupt people at NOV.

I can add something the type of NOV employees NOV keeps to that, there is an employee in Norway who slept her way to the top with several upper management in Rig to get what she wanted, well she is a Director and several years later she is still there sleeping around with any NOV male she can.

I confirm what Anonymous142155 said. I worked in the same department. NOV paid for her trips and allowed her to go alone with a male employee who's married. She tried wrecking his marriage yet she's married too but she keeps that a big secret. Ever since he left NOV she's moved on to another victim. The dude is a real a real dummy. He can't see the facade and BS. As for the guy she's married to, he works for NOV, a different location than hers. She says he doesn't suspect a thing.

Something is structurally wrong with management in service companies as a whole. One reason why bad management has survived, is that these service companies were making very large profits. That the millions of dollars in bad decions never showed up on the balance sheet in dramatic fashion. If the industry margins were thin during good times, then poor decisions would become obvious. we need IQ tests for every promotion.

The Reality, haha you're so right! I am one of those that were let go because I spoke up! Lying, stealing, harassing, cheating, abusing, extorting, bullying and manipulating to name a few were her everyday techniques to get what she wanted and exert power and control over others. A real power trip she she got a high on which probably gave her multiple orgasms throughout the day. Unethical covert narcissist serial sociopath "manager" who has no prior management experience, no people skills, no education, or even a degree moved right into "manager" position by underhandedly cutting my former manager right out. Used the same motto well known by her cronies, "it's not what you know but who know" I saw and heard it all. "Laid off" was the excuse I was given even after we were reassured by upper management that our small corporate team were needed and none of us were going to be laid off. I am not one to bow down and allow a vile fanged bully to harass and abuse me. I actually feel sorry for her. She's stuck in a rut on a destructive path. Hurting people hurt people. One day it all come back around and she will have to deal with all the evil things she has done.

That is the problem really....the fear of speaking up and telling the truth. Everyone talks about doing it but no one actually does. For fear of losing their job, they just take the crap that is handed to them day in and day out. Those that speak up to their managers, express their views and try to promote positive change in the company are let go. I know a few people like that, one in particular. The manager was intimidated by him and his broad knowledge base and got rid of him. Now someone else gets that knowledge and skill set while the manager continues to bully and run around and do nothing except make people believe he is doing something. It is too bad we cannot review those at the top. There are some who would get stellar grades but there some who definitely fail a review. Open your eyes and see that when a manager does a bad job in one group, chances are he will also do bad in another group. Don't promote incompetence!! The best employees are not the visionaries who TALK big but the people who actually about doing great things and do them. Wait! NOV has lost most of those. Big corporate groups like NOV want yes men not independent thinkers. Everyone is a sheep. Baa Baa.

The Company should ask subordinates to review their managers. The problem is that most subordinates would be afraid to speak up.
