I do not "hope" leadership will deliver.

It's binary, it either will or won't.

I have no input into how they run the company. None.

I'm hired to do a job and it does not include that, and I will do my job as long

as we are mutually beneficial.

Hope is a mistake. How many of the thousands "hoped" they wouldn't get layed off?

In my experience there are only a few things that good and real engineers (the ones who actually do the work that results in the final product) need and look for in their day to day work.........(1) Works that is interesting, that keeps them challenged and learning always..... (2) Thrill of seeing their efforrs of their labor actually in the market...and making a difference. (3). Place where they work has relatively smart folks... Easy to have some meaningful conversation... Not surrounded by idiots only that learn from you but nothing you can learn from them in return.... (4) RESPECT..... very important I might add....Having managers that are condescending and talking down to you...specially by idiots who cannot actually do the work that you are doing and they are freely criticing to no end.. Is not a good environment.... Qualcomm directors are known for this kind of verbal/emotional abuse ...(5).FAIRNESS.... above all. Can't emphasize more on this. Not fair when upper management is held to a different standard than engineers, when it comes to promotion, rewards, appreciation... Cannot promote one to VP role while berating engineer and downgrading the review for the one and same project failure........... For any project failure, more than engineer a leader, VP, (Sr)director needs to be held accountable....... As for 1, 2 and 3 they are somewhat out of our control...bad times in Q and overall industry. IMO, need to stick it out and do our best... Unless employees sees some amount of improvement at the very least in the last two points listed, my guess is low morale, motivation and productivity will prevail based on hopelessness... All the while the good ones looking for other opportunities outside QUALCOMM.

Do you see the irony in your response? You say that you have no control over the problem. You say that others must solve the problem. Therefore, all you have is hope in others.

You know hope is a mistake.

Leadership needs to deliver, us worker bees have no control over that, just do our jobs.
